OUR FOOD, OUR HEALTH

We have just completed a five month pilot project funded by the Scottish Government’s Good food Nation Fund. The project was designed to adopt an inter-generational approach to educating communities and increase their knowledge of food. We wanted to increase understanding of the health impact of diet and to encourage people to replace high fat and/or sugary products with starchy carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables.

We delivered the pilot project working with partner organisations across the communities of Drumchapel and Yoker. Our partners were Fasque Nursery, Yoker After School Care, Volunteer Glasgow’s Elderly Service, Yoker Community Care for the Elderly, Propagate, North Glasgow Community Food Initiative and Nicola Becci (community chef)
.
The project has been a great success with 94 local residents, ranging in age from 3 to 80, participating in a range of nutrition, cooking and gardening workshops.
